If blonde, highlighted or bleached hair starts looking more yellow or orange than you intended, L’Oréal Elvive Colour Protect Anti Brassiness Purple Mask is designed specifically for colour correction and conditioning. Its highly pigmented purple formula helps neutralise unwanted warm tones while the rich mask texture provides intensive care for colour treated hair. It can be particularly useful for maintaining blonde and highlighted sections between salon visits.

• Provides intensive conditioning for colour treated hair
• Helps leave hair feeling softer and smoother
• Suitable for bleached, highlighted blonde and highlighted brunette hair
• Designed to work even on darker hair bases with highlights
• Contains a UV filter
• Convenient once weekly treatment

Detailed Product Overview

This is more than a regular conditioning mask. The formula is designed around purple toning pigments, which are used to visually counter unwanted yellow tones in blonde and lightened hair. The official ingredient list includes CI 60730, also known as Acid Violet 43, as well as CI 45100, Acid Red 52. It also contains coconut oil, cetearyl alcohol, conditioning ingredients and fragrance.

The mask has an ultra rich texture, making it better suited to hair lengths that need more conditioning than a lightweight everyday conditioner can provide. L’Oréal describes it as helping colour treated hair look smoother and softer while providing nourishment.

It is important to understand what a purple mask can and cannot do. It is intended for toning unwanted warm tones, not for permanently changing your hair colour or replacing professional colour correction. The effect will also depend on the existing hair colour, level of lightness and how porous the hair is.

Texture, Finish and Real Life Experience

Expect a thick, richly pigmented purple hair mask rather than a lightweight conditioner. The rich consistency is useful when working through highlighted or bleached lengths where extra conditioning is wanted.

Because the formula is strongly pigmented, application should be controlled and even. Very light or porous sections can pick up purple pigment more noticeably than darker areas. For this reason, following the recommended five minute application time is important rather than leaving it on for longer in the hope of getting stronger results.

After rinsing, the intended result is hair that feels conditioned, softer and smoother, with unwanted yellow or orange tones appearing more neutral.

Who Is It For?

This purple hair mask is particularly relevant for:

• Blonde hair
• Bleached hair
• Highlighted hair
• Balayage with blonde or lightened sections
• Brunette hair with blonde highlights
• Colour treated hair that has developed yellow or orange tones

It may not be the right choice if your main concern is simply dryness without any unwanted brassiness. If your hair is naturally dark and completely uncoloured, a purple toning mask is also unlikely to provide the colour correction you are looking for.

Why Customers Choose This Product

The main reason to choose this mask is the combination of anti brassiness toning and intensive conditioning in one treatment. Instead of using a purple shampoo alone, this format gives colour treated hair a richer conditioning step while helping maintain a cooler looking blonde or highlighted tone.

For someone who regularly colours or highlights their hair, it can be a practical addition to a weekly maintenance routine between salon appointments.

How To Use

Wash your hair, preferably using a purple shampoo as part of your colour care routine.
Apply the mask to damp hair, concentrating on the lengths and areas where brassiness is visible.
Leave it on for 5 minutes.
Rinse thoroughly with water.
Use once a week as recommended by L’Oréal.

Avoid contact with the eyes. If the product gets into the eyes, rinse immediately and thoroughly. The brand also specifies that the product is intended for hair colour correction purposes.

Expert tip: Because this is a highly pigmented purple mask, start with the recommended five minute timing rather than extending the application time. This is especially worth keeping in mind if your blonde sections are very light or porous.

Will it work on orange as well as yellow tones?
L’Oréal specifically states that the highly pigmented formula helps neutralise unwanted yellow and orange tones, making it suitable for blonde and highlighted hair where brassiness has developed.

Can I use it like a normal hair mask?
It can condition the hair, but its main purpose is colour correction. If your hair does not have unwanted warm tones, a regular colour care mask may be more appropriate.

What if I want shine and smoothness rather than purple toning?
For dull hair where your priority is smoothness and visible gloss rather than brassiness, you can consider L'Oréal Elvive Glycolic Gloss Conditioner for Dull Hair 150ml.
