A Weekly Deep Clean for Buildup and Dull Hair

Olaplex Nº.4C Bond Maintenance™ Clarifying Shampoo is a concentrated weekly clarifying shampoo designed for all hair types and textures. It helps remove buildup from excess oil, styling products, pollution, chlorine, and minerals commonly found in hard water. This makes it particularly useful when hair starts feeling heavy, coated, dull, or less responsive to your usual haircare routine.

Unlike a shampoo you would typically use every wash, Nº.4C is designed as an occasional reset. Its formula is pH optimized and made without SLS or SLES, while still providing a thorough cleanse without intentionally stripping away hair color.

Detailed Product Overview

The main purpose of Nº.4C is clarification. Hair can collect residue over time from dry shampoo, styling products, oils, pollution and minerals in water. In areas where hard water is an issue, mineral deposits can also contribute to hair feeling less clean and looking dull.

Olaplex describes Nº.4C as a broad spectrum clarifying system that targets several types of buildup. The formula also contains Bis Aminopropyl Diglycol Dimaleate, Panthenol and amino acids. It is free from protein and silicones, while the cleansing system does not use SLS or SLES.

The shampoo has Olaplex’s signature refreshing scent, with grapefruit zest and sugared mint alongside ginger and a crushed sage base.

Texture, Cleanse and Real Life Use

This is a highly concentrated shampoo, so you do not need to use a large amount. Once applied to wet hair and worked through, it creates a thorough lather that helps lift the residue sitting on the hair and scalp.

The result you are looking for is not simply “squeaky clean” hair. A good clarifying wash should leave the hair feeling fresher and lighter, allowing your regular conditioner, mask and other treatments to fit back into your routine more comfortably.

For Bangladesh’s hot and humid weather, this type of weekly reset can be useful if your hair tends to collect sweat, oil, styling residue or environmental buildup. However, it should not automatically replace your regular shampoo because it is specifically designed for weekly or as needed use.

Who Is It For?

Nº.4C is suitable for all hair types, including straight, wavy, curly and coily hair, as well as fine, medium and coarse textures. It can also be used across different hair porosity levels.

It is especially worth considering if your hair:

Feels weighed down despite regular washing
Has noticeable product buildup
Gets oily at the scalp
Looks dull or lacks its usual shine
Is exposed to chlorine or hard water minerals
Is color treated or chemically treated and needs a color safe clarifying option

If your hair is already extremely dry or your scalp does not tolerate frequent deep cleansing, this may not be something you need to use often. Start with the brand’s suggested weekly or as needed schedule rather than treating it like an everyday shampoo.

Why Customers Choose It

The main appeal of Nº.4C is that it combines the purpose of a clarifying shampoo with Olaplex’s broader bond care approach. It is made for a proper buildup reset while remaining color safe and suitable for chemically treated hair. The concentrated 250ml formula is also designed for up to 100 applications based on an average 2.5ml application size.

For a complete haircare routine, you can follow clarification with a suitable conditioner or mask. If you are also looking for a lightweight finishing step, you can pair your routine with Olaplex Nº.7 Bonding Oil 30ml.

For blonde hair that needs toning as part of the routine, Olaplex Nº.5P Blonde Enhancer™ Toning Conditioner 250ml can be considered separately for its purple toning purpose.

How To Use

Use Nº.4C once a week or as needed instead of your regular shampoo.
Dispense a small amount and emulsify it between your hands.
Apply to wet hair.
Massage and lather thoroughly.
Rinse well.
Follow with your preferred conditioner, mask or treatment.

Because the formula is concentrated, starting with a small amount is practical. Avoid contact with the eyes.

If your main concern is buildup, excess oil, dullness or hard water residue, Nº.4C makes more sense than simply switching to a stronger everyday shampoo. If your main concern is ongoing dryness, you may want to use it less frequently and follow with a nourishing conditioner or mask.

The product is also not specifically a purple toning shampoo. If you are shopping for blonde or grey hair toning, a dedicated purple product is more appropriate.
