Deep Black Definition with a Matte Finish

If you like your eyeliner properly black rather than soft charcoal, SEPHORA COLLECTION 12HR Colorful Waterproof Retractable Eyeliner in 01 Matte Black is designed for that kind of defined eye look. The shade is a deep black with a matte finish, while the creamy pencil texture glides onto the skin and can be blended for a softer smoky effect.

It is a retractable eyeliner with a built in sharpener and smudger, so you can use the same pencil for precise lash line definition, waterline looks or a more diffused eye makeup style. Sephora states that the formula offers up to 12 hours of waterproof and transfer proof wear.

Detailed Product Overview

This is a retractable waterproof eyeliner pencil made for both definition and more blended eye looks. The formula contains ingredients including dimethicone, trimethylsiloxysilicate, polyethylene and iron oxides. CI 77499, an iron oxide pigment, provides the deep black color.

The creamy formula is designed to glide across the eye area instead of feeling like a particularly dry pencil. The pencil also has an ultraprecise tip, a smudger tip and a built in sharpener, making it more versatile than a basic eyeliner pencil.

For customers in Bangladesh, the waterproof and transfer proof positioning can be particularly useful for everyday makeup in warm and humid conditions. However, waterproof does not mean completely immune to every situation, so application technique and the amount of oil, sweat or moisture around the eye can still affect how any eyeliner looks throughout the day.

Texture, Finish and Real Life Experience

01 Matte Black gives a classic matte black appearance, making it suitable when you want clearly defined eyes without the shine of a shimmer eyeliner.

The creamy texture allows you to draw a clean line and then soften it with the smudger before the formula sets. This makes it useful for both a sharper everyday eyeliner look and a smoky eye.

Sephora reports up to 12 hours of waterproof and transfer proof wear, along with intense color payoff in a single swipe based on its stated clinical testing.

Because this is a rich black shade, it can create noticeable definition even with a relatively thin line. If you prefer a softer, more natural eye look, using the smudger to diffuse the edges can make the result less intense.

Who Is It For?

This eyeliner is a good option for anyone who prefers:

Deep black eyeliner with a matte finish
Waterproof eye makeup
Defined upper lash lines
Black waterline looks
Smoky eye makeup
A creamy pencil that can be blended
A retractable design with a built in sharpener

It can work particularly well for evening makeup, events, festive looks and everyday defined eye makeup.

If you prefer a very soft brown liner or a subtle makeup look, 01 Matte Black may feel more intense than you need. Likewise, anyone with particularly sensitive eyes should consider their own tolerance to eye makeup ingredients before use.

Why Customers Choose This Product

The main appeal is versatility. You are not limited to one eyeliner style. The pencil can create a precise line, be applied along the waterline or be blended into a smoky effect.

The built in sharpener is also practical because you can refresh the pencil tip without carrying a separate sharpener. The retractable format makes everyday application straightforward.

How To Use

Extend the eyeliner tip and sharpen it using the built in sharpener when you want maximum precision.
Apply close to the upper or lower lash line, moving from the inner corner toward the outer corner.
For a waterline look, apply carefully along the waterline.
For a smoky effect, draw a slightly thicker line on the upper lid.
Use the smudger tip to soften and blend the line before it sets.
To use the built in sharpener, gently pull off the blending end, extend around 1 cm of pencil and twist it a few times inside the sharpener.

Expert tip: For a crisp black wing or very precise lash line, sharpen the tip before application. For a softer smoky look, work in small sections and blend while the creamy formula is still workable.
