Detailed Product Overview

The main purpose of this Smashbox primer is color correction rather than simply creating a smooth makeup base. Its green toned pigment works according to basic color correction principles, helping counter the visual appearance of unwanted redness before foundation is applied.

The formula also contains what Smashbox calls its Silkscreen Complex, featuring ingredients including Hyaluronic Acid, antioxidants, vitamins and Algae. Algae is included to help soothe the look of stressed skin, while Rose and Mushroom extracts are intended to reduce the appearance of irritation.

From the ingredient list, the formula also contains silicones such as Dimethicone and several smoothing silicone based ingredients. These help give the primer its silky feel and contribute to a smoother looking surface for makeup application. Glycerin, Hydroxyethyl Urea and Sodium Hyaluronate are also present in the formula.

One important point is that this is a makeup primer, not a treatment for the underlying cause of redness. Its color correcting effect is cosmetic, so it helps reduce the visible appearance of redness rather than treating a skin condition.

Texture, Finish and Real Life Experience

The primer has a lightweight, breathable feel with a silky texture and soft satin finish. It is designed to sit comfortably on the skin rather than feeling like a heavy layer of makeup. Smashbox specifically recommends wearing it alone or underneath makeup.

For Bangladesh weather, the lightweight texture can be useful when you want color correction without adding another visibly heavy layer underneath foundation. However, if your main concern is significant oil control, this is not the Smashbox primer specifically designed for mattifying and controlling oil. Smashbox has a separate mattifying primer for that purpose.

Who Is It For?

This primer can be a useful choice for:

• Skin that visibly looks red or uneven before makeup
• Normal, dry, oily or combination skin
• People who prefer a satin rather than strongly matte finish
• Makeup users who want redness correction before foundation
• Sensitive looking or visibly stressed skin, as the formula is marketed by Smashbox as suitable for sensitive skin

It may not be the most suitable choice if your primary goal is strong oil control or a completely matte base. It is also important not to expect the green pigment to replace foundation or concealer when you need actual complexion coverage.

Why Customers Choose This Product

The main attraction is its combination of color correction and primer benefits. Instead of using a separate green corrector and then another primer, this product is designed to help neutralize redness while preparing the skin for makeup.

The soft satin finish also makes it different from primers created specifically for a very matte or pore focused look. For someone whose main concern is visible redness rather than excess shine, that distinction matters.

How To Use

Complete your skincare routine and allow your moisturizer to settle.
Take approximately a pea sized amount of primer.
Smooth it gently over clean, moisturized skin, concentrating on areas where redness is more visible.
Blend evenly and allow it to settle.
Apply foundation or other complexion makeup over it.
It can also be worn alone when you want to visually tone down redness without wearing a full face of makeup.

Expert tip: Start with a thin layer. Because the primer contains green color correcting pigment, applying too much can make the base look unnecessarily tinted before foundation.
