A Gentle Start to Retinol for Smoother Looking Skin

If your skin is starting to show fine lines, uneven texture, dullness or leftover pigmentation, The Ordinary Retinol 0.5% in Squalane can be a practical addition to your evening skincare routine. It contains 0.5% retinol, a well known vitamin A derivative used to improve the appearance of signs of skin ageing and uneven skin tone.

The squalane based formula gives the serum a comfortable, nourishing feel, which can be especially useful if your skin tends to feel dry or tight. For Bangladesh weather, where heat and humidity can make skincare feel heavy, a small amount is usually enough.

Benefits

Supports smoother and more refined looking skin texture
Helps improve the appearance of uneven skin tone and pigmentation
Can make dull skin look fresher and more radiant over time
Squalane helps provide a moisturising feel while using retinol
Suitable for people who want to introduce a moderate strength retinol into their routine

Detailed Product Overview

The main active ingredient is 0.5% retinol, which works by supporting skin renewal and improving the appearance of texture, fine lines and uneven tone with consistent use. Retinol can also be helpful when pigmentation and post acne marks are a concern.

The formula uses squalane, a lightweight emollient that helps soften the skin and reduce the dry feeling that some people experience with retinol. It has an oil based texture, so you only need a few drops for the entire face.

This is not the type of product to use aggressively for quick results. Retinol works best when introduced gradually and used consistently.

Who Is It For?

This retinol serum is a good option for normal, dry, combination and mature skin looking to improve fine lines, uneven texture, dullness or pigmentation.

It can also suit oily skin if you prefer an oil based serum and use only a small amount. However, people with very sensitive, irritated or currently compromised skin should avoid starting retinol until the skin feels comfortable again.

If you are completely new to retinol, starting with a lower strength may be more comfortable before moving to 0.5%.

Why Customers Choose This Product

One of the biggest advantages is its straightforward formulation. You get a clearly stated 0.5% retinol concentration without a complicated collection of actives. The addition of squalane makes the formula feel more moisturising than many lightweight retinol treatments.

It is also a convenient choice for people who want to target several concerns at once, including fine lines, uneven texture, dullness and pigmentation.

How To Use

Use in your evening skincare routine after cleansing and drying your face.
Apply a few drops to the face, avoiding the eye area.
Follow with your moisturiser if needed.
Start 2 to 3 nights a week and gradually increase as your skin becomes comfortable.
Use sunscreen every morning because retinoids can make skin more sensitive to sunlight.

Avoid using it in the same routine with strong exfoliating acids or other potentially irritating active treatments until you know how your skin responds.
